Brisbane Royal Show Results The Brangus display at the Brisbane "Ekka" highlighted the Brangus breed qualities extremely well. Exhibitors from two states competed for the ribbons on offer.
5th Roma Brangus Sale   ASSOCIATION SPONSORED ROMA BRANGUS SALE The 5th Annual Roma Brangus Sale will be held on Friday the 3rd September at the Roma Saleyards commencing at 11am.
New DNA for Poll Gene    A new Australian DNA test for the polled gene is now available. This test will enable producers to identify homozyous polled animals to accelerate the percentage of polled animals in their herd.      
2010 Group BREEDPLAN released   The 2010 Brangus Group BREEDPLAN has been released. A copy of the Sire summary can be downloaded from the Download forms section of this website.

National Beef -Bendigo 2010

 

Three exhibitors presented a great line of Brangus at the Bendigo National Beef Show held at Bendigo on the 21st May 2010. Judged by Peter Croker the Brangus judging attracted interest from breeders in the southern regions. Supreme Brangus exhibit was Castle Evolution 694 exhibitied by the Bush Family, Euroa Victoria. This calf was also the junior and grand champion male. Sired by Sankeys Revolution this calf showed great growth for age, tidy underline and an excellent muscle pattern.

 

Junior and grand champion female was the bulls half sister Castle Phoebe 697 (Pic), also by Revolution 860K. This heifer was an impressive exhibit and attracted good comments from the judges in the Interbreed classes. Reserve junior bull and reserve junior heifer classes were won by Ron & Penny Herrin. The Herrins operate the Jakara Brangus stud in northern Victoria. Reserve  junior champion heifer was the red Jakara Jacklyn sired by PFR IMP 600ths 705/4. Their reserve junior champion bull was Jakara Clack Clack Billy, a pure Brinks breeding calf.The Humphreys Family exhibited the senior champion female Castle Brangus Maddison.

Spectators included Anne Galloway, Duarran Brangus, Roma Queensland and Chloe Keogh, Barham NSW. Zone 4 committee members Luke Keogh and Michael Bush were seen with the Executive Officer Colin Rex. John Croker, General Manager Australian Brahman Breeders Association was also ringside. The ABBA provided administration for the Brangus Association prior to moving to the ABRI at Armidale and it was great to see a former Association manager ringside.
