Adding Brahman, Angus & Ultra Animals

Using genetics Brahman, Angus & Ultra animals is a great way to diversify your herd. Brangus Australia is happy to facilitate the record keeping for Brahman, Angus & Ultra animals and their progeny while maintaining the high levels of integrity of our herd book.


Brahman & Angus animals are added to the database as enrolment animals.

Calves are registered at the Foundation level*

Ultra animals which are currently registered with Angus Australia are added to the database as registered animals and their progeny will be registered.*


SIRES

Important steps which must be complete before using Brahman, Angus & Ultra sires.


Registration of Brahman & Angus

Registered Brahman & Angus sires (used for natural mating or AI) must be added to the database prior to progeny being submitted for recording. To check if the Brahman & Angus animal is already on the database use the Animal Search function on the website. If you are unable to find the animal on the database, please email a link to the animals pedigree listed on the Brahman or Angus societies website.


Registration of Brahman & Angus sires incur a $100 fee per animal.


Registration of Ultras currently registered with Angus Australia

Ultra sires which are currently registered with Angus Australia (used for natural mating or AI) must be added to the database prior to progeny being submitted for recording. To check if the Ultra animal is already on the database use the Animal Search function on the website. If you are unable to find the animal on the database, please email a link to the animals pedigree listed on the Angus societies website.

Registration of Ultra sires incur a $25 fee per animal.


DNA Testing of Brahman, Angus & Ultra Sires

All Brahman, Angus & Ultra Animals Sires must have an Australian Brangus DNA Bundle. This testing must be requested through Brangus Australia. A hair, TSU or full semen straw must be submitted for testing.

Testing must be requested after the animal has been added to the database and the ABCA ident for the animal must be provided.

AI Sire Approval

If Brahman, Angus & Ultra Animals Sires are being used for AI, the animal must be AI Sire approved on the ABCA database. To request AI Sire Approval, complete the AI Sire Application form on the website and return in via email to the office.


AI Sire Approval can only be requested once the Brahman, Angus & Ultra Animals Animal has been registered and the DNA requirements have been met.

AI Sire Approval incurs a $125 fee per animal.

Once the above steps have been completed you will be able to register AI progeny by the imported Sire.
The requirements for AI calf recording & registrations can be found in the regulations.




DAMS

Donor Dam Approval

If Brahman, Angus & Ultra Animals dams are being used for ETI, the animal must be ET approved on the ABCA database. To request ET Approval, complete the Donor Dam Application form on the website and return in via email to the office.


Donor Dam approval can only be requested once the Brahman, Angus & Ultra Animals Animal has been registered and the DNA requirements have been met.

Donor Dam approval incurs a $125 fee per animal.

DNA TESTING PROCESS ABCA have made the following changes to the DNA Testing Process to implement an effective and efficient process.
