At the recent Board Meeting the Board moved for the following regulations to be added to the ABCA Regulations:

  • AI Calves require an insemination date

  • ET calves require an implant date and a recipient dam to be recorded with the ABCA

These regulations will increase quality data stored on the database. Implant/insemination dates and Recipient details are factors used when analysing traits with BREEDPLAN.

A reminder that all Sires including Angus, Brahman and Imported Brangus require a Brangus Bundle.

The ABCA prefers that Angus, Brahman and Imported Brangus Sires have a Brangus Bundle but understand that this is an additional cost so currently allow SNP profiles to be added from their respective Societies. If the Society where the animal is registered does not have a SNP profile for the animal the member will be required to provide a sample (hair, TSU or Semen) for testing.

The ABCA recommends that before Members purchase Semen or Embryos they confirm that the Sire and/or the Donor Dam has a Brangus Bundle completed before purchasing.

A list of Approved AI Sires & Donor Dams which meet the DNA requirements (Brangus Bundle completed) can be found below:
