2020 Carcase Competition - Entries Open

Dear Brangus Enthusiasts,

The Brangus Carcase Competition will run again on the Wednesday 11th March 2020 with the previous year’s competition being a great success.  The steers have been judged on weight gain and carcase eating ability. The Brangus prime cuts have been available at the Bracken Ridge Tavern in Brisbane, Keppel Bay Sailing Club in Yeppoon & The Rocky Sports Club, Rockhampton during Brangus Month (August).  All reports received by the Brangus Carcase Committee on previous years have been very positive.

Here is your chance to be part of something big and support our Breed!

There are 2 classes for entry -

•    Class A – Brangus Purebred Steers
•    Class B – Brangus Crossbred Steers*
*Brangus Cross Steers must be either by a Brangus Bull or out of a Brangus Cow.
•    Class C – Brangus Purebred Heifers
•    Class D – Brangus Crossbred Heifers*
*Brangus Cross Heifers must be either by a Brangus Bull or out of a Brangus Cow.

There will be a Field Day held at Waterfall Feedlot on Wednesday 17th June 2020.

Due to work place health and safety this will be the only time you will be able to view the cattle unless arranged with Waterfall Feedlot or the ABCA Carcase Competition Committee.

To make the competition run as smoothly as possible, Terry Nolan will purchase the animals on entry to the feedlot. A price will be quoted 2 weeks before delivery to the Waterfall Feedlot, Goomeri, QLD.  Animals will be killed at Nolan’s Meats, Gympie.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner which will be held on Thursday 6th August 2020 at the Bracken Ridge Tavern, Brisbane, the awards will be held after the EKKA Brangus Judging.

Please give careful consideration of the animals you enter as it is a competition and we are looking for the very best to promote your cattle or your stud.
