Practical Systems Limited and Outcross Systems Pty Ltd are today pleased to announce that they have agreed in-principle to merge the livestock offerings and operations of Practical Systems Limited with Outcross Systems Pty Ltd.

Those offerings and operations include the Stockbook branded animal management platform and related livestock management hardware, consulting and advisory services currently provided by Practical Systems. These will be merged with, and undertaken by, Outcross Systems.

Tom Newsome, Managing Director of Outcross Systems Pty Ltd says this move reflects the company’s commitment to the bright future of the Australian livestock industry. Tom said “Outcross Systems is proud to have the opportunity to continue the legacy of Practical Systems’ Stockbook product suite. Stockbook represents one of Australia’s most enduring and respected livestock technology brands which has been the backbone of on-farm data management for nearly three decades. The incorporation of Stockbook into the Outcross Systems stable complements our market leading Agents and Saleyard offerings. It will allow us to invest heavily in data management solutions across the supply chain”, Tom said.

This move will enable the two companies to combine their substantial respective expertise and capacity to efficiently develop next-generation technology solutions for a wider market.

For Practical Systems CEO, Peter Rasmussen this represents a bright and revitalised future for the Stockbook platform. Peter said, “This is a clear step toward the vision we have had for the Stockbook platform, of providing data for producers that is integrated along each step of the livestock production value chain”. This has the potential to link decisions made on-farm directly to market values so that those decisions can have a direct impact on profit.”

“We fully expect that for employees and customers this change will represent minimal disruption. For the Stockbook platform it will be business as usual, with the same people providing you the support that you have come to know and rely upon. The Outcross Systems platforms of Stockyard, Saleyard Plus and Saleyard LE will also continue uninterrupted with the same standard of excellent service and responsiveness.” Peter said.

Today’s announcement reflects the companies’ completion of a memorandum of understanding to undertake the planned merger. The details of the final agreement and transition plan will be considered and advised over the coming weeks and months.
